I had Amerispec in Gatineau conduct my pre-purchase home inspection in March 2025. The initial service was good and communication with me was cordial and timely. However, now that I have lived in the home for several months, I have come to realise that the inspection was not well done. Several problems have come to light that should have easily been caught by a home inspector. I had a lot of faith in this home inspection - a home purchase is such a financial risk! - and now can confirm that putting my trust in Amerispec was misguided. They came recommended by my realtor and that was also a mistake on my part.

Great service! The inspector (Joe) was very knowledgeable and took the time to walk through the property with me, carefully explaining his observations and how some of the house systems work. He also provided valuable insights on how to address and mitigate certain issues. I truly appreciated the thoroughness and professionalism. Strongly recommended!

If you want a great service and peace of mind go somewhere else. Our prepurchase inspection was done by Martin Brunet and we are very disappointed with the service we received. First of all the inspector was not able to do the thermography because he forgot his battery even though we had explicitly requested it in writing. He did not pay attention to detail, we had to tell him on a few occasions that things seemed abnormal. He did not check humidity levels in the basement walls and when we asked about it he said he did not see water spots on the walls. After contacting the company to express our concerns they told us they could send the inspector back to do the thermography which is additional stress that we did not need during the purchase of our home. The report is very minimal and does not provide reassurance since many things were not inspected.

Très déçu du service reçu, nous avions demandé l'inspection avec thermographie et l'inspecteur dit qu'il a oublié sa batterie et qu'il n'allait pas retourner chez lui pour 50$. Cette partie de l'inspection était importante pour ma conjointe et moi puisqu'on s'était desisté d'acheter une maison suite à ce test. Il est passé très rapidement dans la maison et beaucoup d'éléments ont été manqués. On devait parfois mentionner des choses pour qu'il s'en aperçoit, aussi bien faire l'inspection nous même pour sauver des sous. Le rapport ne disait pas grand chose, nous ne sommes pas rassurés pour l'achat de notre première maison. Je vous déconseille !

We had Amanda inspect the house and couldn't be more happy and grateful to her for her dedication, attention to minute details, patience and clarity explaining the issues found. On top of scrutinizing every part of the house, she also went to little crawl spaces to investigate, no stones were left unturned. Her detailed report enabled us to make informed decision on the property. Kudos to AmeriSpec for having her in your team and thank you very much Amanda.

Terrible service

Joé est un excellent inspecteur. Ses explications sont claires et il est très attentif au détail. Il réponds à toutes les questions, même après l’inspection! Je recommande fortement.

I cannot express how grateful we are that we chose Joe at AmeriSpec for our home inspection. Our home inspection went very well, and we were aware of a hairline crack in the foundation that we needed to repair (although not urgent). We followed Joe's advice and contacted a foundation expert to come to do preventative maintenance and fix the crack. The foundation specialist came and told us that our foundation was in terrible shape, and that it would cost us $30,000. I called Joe crying and he came back a few HOURS later to see what the "expert" was talking about. Joe told me that the guy was clearly taking us for a ride as he confirmed again that he saw no issue with our foundation. Sure enough, we hired another foundation expert and he said it would only cost $975 to fix. Joe was right!!! Not only did Joe come to our rescue that day, but a month later we noticed some cracks in our house at some "load points." Even though Joe did his work for us months before, he still took the time to talk to me and look at pictures I sent him with the cracks in question. He reassured us all was well. If you are looking for a home inspector, look no further and call Joe at Amerispec! HE IS THE VERY BEST! Thanks again, Joe! :)
